Every tooth is unique

Each tooth is a small work of art

When the inserters do their job in the VITA Zahnfabrik workshop, at first glance, the work looks easy. Everything runs smoothly and professionally. Two anterior tooth sets are created in just five minutes. But those who have tried it themselves know that a lot of practice and skill is needed to create a highly esthetic denture from incisal, dentine and root materials, that is as individual as a fingerprint.

"We have to work absolutely clean here" is the motto when inserting. The inserter is equipped with a modeling instrument, three different composite materials and preheated moulds, so that the inserted portions are also adhere.

Then everything goes very quickly and in reverse order compared to what dental technicians and dentists are used to. The layering process begins in the mould from the outside. The correctly portioned incisal materials are inserted first and fissures are worked in. "The dosage is very important. It must not contain too much or too little material. For all teeth, the incisal material must be extracted evenly." The modeling instrument skillfully rushes over the moulds until all nests are filled. A soft metallic clacking is audible and gives an insight into how quickly the work is done here.

After the incisal edge, the root mass is inserted into the counter mold and at the end the dentin mass also finds its place between the mould and the counter mould. "The layers must be inserted homogeneously and smoothly one after the other." That is the secret of a good three-dimensional layering, according to the anatomical model. Finally, the "pestle mass" is positioned in the middle of the mould and the counter mould for subsequent compaction. Under pressure and temperature, the denture teeth are finally pressed in a single cast at a precisely defined time interval. "Each tooth is one of a kind, a small work of art!"
